Frequently Asked Questions

What is an IEE FBA?

An IEE FBA stands for Independent Educational Evaluation Functional Behavior Assessment. It is an evaluation of maladaptive behavior occurring at a student’s school program conducted by an independent specialist who does not work directly for the school district.

Which behaviors do you assess/evaluate?

Presently, I conduct IEE FBAs for students exhibiting aggression, self-injury, and elopement only. I do not currently conduct assessments for being off-task or not paying attention during class.

Will you recommend 1:1 support?

1:1 support is not something that is automatically recommended. Since it is a very restrictive accommodation, 1:1 support recommendations are generally reserved for students exhibiting high levels of severe behaviors that are interfering with access to the curriculum and with the potential to harm self or others.

How long does an IEE FBA typically take to complete?

After the formal parent interview is conducted, an assessment usually takes 4-6 weeks to complete. However, factors such as accessibility of student for observations, responsiveness of school staff, and/or Holiday closures can sometimes delay the overall process.
